We have Mexican Cooking on the Mind!

CYCLE 43 Food Distribution

Tuesday, April 2nd

As the committee members selected product for this cycle they must have been dreaming of a trip to Mexico or perhaps thinking of a favorite Mexican restaurant. We hope the products offered this cycle will inspire your shopping and encourage you to get out your recipes and create a meal inspired by the Mexican cuisine.

Tortilleria Nixtamal located in Queens offers corn tortillas which "are not just for holding your food together." Made from non-genetically modified corn, these tortillas are nothing like the brittle tasteless ones we are used to.

Taza Chocolate Factory of Sommerville, Mass. brings us chocolate produced in Mexican tradition. The chocolate is stone ground on a grist mill crafted by the owner. We are offering chipotle and coffee bars. If this is not enough Laxy Crazy Acres brings us Mexican chocolate gelato.

Now for today's riddle. Do you know what cardoon is? We do. You can Google it or better yet come shop on April 2 and ask us.

Distribution Next Tuesday Evening

Tuesday, March 19th

WOW! Cycle 42. Thanks to all shoppers and committee members who have gotten us to this point!

As you go through the product list make particular note of those produce items that signal that perhaps Spring is approaching. Fill up your bags with asparagus, broccoli, bok choy and basil. Throw in some red potatoes, red onions, and sausage grillers on sale and a meal is created. We know you can't pass up the ice cream, gelato and chocolate. So many flavors and all of them delectable.

We look forward to offering some fresh, home made Middle Eastern favorites from the kitchen of Grapevine Restaurant. We are very excited to support a local provider.

We would like to remind you of our efforts to add Saturday distributions but can't do this without more staffing so join us and encourage your friends to do the same.

HAPPY SHOPPING! (Thanks Risa for the blurb!)

Much Discussed in the General Meeting!

No you don't have to sit in meetings in a church kitchen to be involved. There are so many different ways you can contribute to making this idea - our own neighborhood grocery cooperative - happen. Many can be done right where you are sitting now. Call us. Join us. Help us. It is the only way it will get done!

Coffee Tasting!

Upcoming Events

Bay Ridge Food Coop - Distribution

Tuesday, January 15th, 5:30 - 7:30 at 6501 6th Avenue (Between 66th and 65th streets)

Members wanted coffee back on our shelves. Well, we checked out the wonderful coffee roasted by Crop-to-Cup right here in Brooklyn. We like how they source their coffee. Check out their website. We want you to try. We will have their two most popular flavors freshly brewed for the distribution. I know it is later in the evening, but a taste won't keep you up, will it? Plus, you may find a tasty surprise from our other offerings.

We are sourcing local and organic products from sustainable farms and local businesses. Come shop with us. With more shoppers, we can improve our pricing by getting better bulk rates. You will be supporting local businesses, eating more wholesome foods, and meeting other community members.
